Befimmo joins the Belgian Alliance for Climate Action
On Monday 12 October, Befimmo joins the community of the Belgian Alliance for Climate Action, founded by The Shift and WWF. Together with 52 other Belgian companies, Befimmo is committed to reducing its CO2e emissions by introducing Science Based Targets (SBT)[1].
The Belgian Alliance for Climate Action (BACA) is a platform/community for Belgian organisations that are committed to their climate ambitions and that have chosen - or are ready to choose - the path of science based targets.
Between 2008 and 2016, Befimmo has reduced its energy-related CO2e emissions by 65%. By joining the Belgian Alliance for Climate Action (BACA), Befimmo commits itself to continue its efforts to reduce CO2e emissions throughout its value chain. It will participate for one year in workshops aimed at sharing and expanding the experience it has already acquired. Ultimately, Befimmo would be able to introduce CO2e emission reduction objectives aligned with the Paris agreements and established on the scientific methodology.
This commitment is part of a strategic approach that Befimmo has been taking for several years to reduce the impact of its activities on the climate and to use its influence for a positive evolution of the society.
“At Befimmo we are convinced that it is our responsibility as an organisation to take more ambitious climate measures. We have already been working on this for many years and are convinced that by working together with other companies we will be able to make a successful transition to a more responsible and climate-neutral society. We are therefore proud to join the Belgian Alliance for Climate Action. " - Frédéric Tourné, Head of Environmental Management.
